Committees
SGS depends heavily on more than 200 volunteers who serve on official committees, as well as in research groups. All SGS volunteers devote their time and talents to fulfill three main SGS objectives:
- To promote the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge in gynecologic surgery.
- To advance and encourage the understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the female reproductive system.
- To stimulate continued improvement in surgical skills and techniques.
See SGS Bylaws for the composition of SGS committees. SGS considers diversity in identifying volunteers and strives to include a balance of multiple subspecialty areas of expertise.

Nominating Committee
Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee is responsible for seeking qualified leaders to fill vacancies among the Board of Directors each year. Given that SGS has a rotation pattern in which the Assistant Secretary-Treasurer ascends to Secretary-Treasurer and then onward to President-Elect, the committee’s charge each year is to identify and recommend one qualified candidate for Assistant Secretary-Treasurer and one for an At-Large member of the Board of Directors. The slate of Board members to serve in the coming year is presented for approval at the Annual Business Meeting.
